Miriam Osborne, a fourth-grade teacher Richardson ISD's White Rock Elementary School, is a huge Duran Duran fan.
In fact, one of the first things she shares with her students is that when she was their age, her room was decorated much like her classroom is now, with pictures of Duran Duran, memorabilia, albums, and artwork.
Like we said, she's a HUGE fan.
So when one of her students told her she was traveling to London over Christmas break, Osbourne gave her a special "assignment."
Fourth-grade Ava Meyers recalled, telling NBC DFW, "Mrs. Osborne called out, 'Make sure you find Duran Duran and tell them Mrs. Osborne says hello.' She said that as a joke, but I was sort of determined to find them."
So, Meyers did just that. While in London, her mom searched "what to do in London, Putney," and the results returned "famous people in Putney," and guess whose name appeared on that list…Duran Duran singer Simon Le Bon!
The search results provided an address not far from the Meyers' current location, so they walked up to the house, knocked on the door, and Le Bon answered the door!
He was celebrating Christmas with his family, but happily posed for a picture with Ava, thus completing her "assignment."
Osborne said, "I couldn't believe it on Christmas Day when her mom texted me photos of Ava and Simon in front of Simon's front door, with his family in the background. It was just unbelievable." The teacher also admitted that her fourth-grade self would not have been as composed. "Oh my God, I would have just DIED!"
