A sign posted at Whataburger in Alabama indicated that some changes were coming to the restaurant's menu. Specifically, the restaurant said they would be "simplifying the menu."
Even more specifically, the owner of those Alabama Whataburgers, MWB Restaurants, announced they will be doing away with taquitos, breakfast platters, and breakfast bowls during the 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. hours.
Now any fan of Whataburger will tell you nothing hits better than a 2 a.m. taquito on the way home from the bar, so this news is absolutely DEVASTATING.
What's next? Taking away the Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit in the name of simplification?!
Thankfully, it turns out these changes only apply to the nine Whataburgers MWB owns.
According to Chron, Texans have nothing to worry about. The overnight taquitos are safe.
Whataburger Senior Vice President Scott Hudler said these changes are "not expanding to any other markets or anything like that. It's focused on the overnight hours and a couple of breakfast items."
"Our menu trends and sales will differ from kind of our core market of Texas to places outside of Texas, and so there's just a different sales mix. That's pretty common with most brands, but definitely with Whataburger."
