Though a lot of kids weren’t really ready for school to start back up again, we bet a lot of their parents were.

And while we know a lot of educators are very passionate about teaching, we can probably think of a few teachers who had a couple more weeks of summer vacation left to go, especially in Texas.

A new study from Twinkl says that teachers in Texas are the most “overworked in the nation,” working an average of 54.7 hours per week.  A survey from the National Center for Education Statistics believes that weekly working hours should be somewhere around 40.2 hours.

Jude Schroeder, U.S. country manager at Twinkl, said of the study’s findings, “The data clearly shows that teachers work significantly more hours than the public perceives as reasonable.

“We believe in the importance of valuing our educators, both in terms of fair compensation and manageable workloads. The findings from our survey highlight a crucial issue: teachers consistently work longer hours and earn less than what is perceived as fair.”
