Study ranks Houston as the “least outdoor-friendly” city in the nation

If you’re looking to spend the last few weeks of summer on an outdoors escapade, you might want to steer clear of Houston.

In a new study conducted by RVshare, H-Town ranked as the “least outdoor-friendly” city in the entire United States, coming in at No. 52 of 52 of the most outdoor-friendly cities.

Dallas didn’t fare too much better, ranking as the 42nd most outdoor-friendly city.  The highest ranked city in Texas was San Antonio, coming in at No. 14.

According to PRNewswire, the rankings were based on a number of factors including: the “behavior of residents within each city, access to outdoor recreational activities and geographic proximity, as well as how each U.S. city is perceived by its own residents and visitors.”

The ten most outdoor-friendly cities include:

1 -  Seattle, Washington
2 - Denver, Colorado
3 - Grand Rapids, Michigan
4 - Miami, Florida
5 - Portland, Oregon
6 - Nashville, Tennessee
7 - San Francisco, California
8 - Richmond, Virginia
9 - Los Angeles, California
10 - Charlotte, North Carolina

And the ten least-outdoor friendly cities include:

1 - Houston, Texas
2 - Rochester, New York
3 - Hartford, Connecticut
4 - Tulsa, Oklahoma
5 - Milwaukee, Wisconsin
6 - Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
7 - Detroit, Michigan
8 - Buffalo, New York
9 - Raleigh, North Carolina
10 - Fresno, California
