Nothing satisfies a craving like tacos. They're quick, always delicious, and for the longest time inexpensive.
Over the past year, that seems to have changed.
According to Toast's Q2 2024 Restaurant Trends report, over the last year the price of tacos has increased 5.9%, the largest increase in price amongst popular lunch dishes like burgers, sandwiches, bowls, noodles, and ramen.
There's no need to start really panicking yet, though.
According to the Houston Chronicle, tacos still remain one of the cheapest lunch options, averaging a cost of $5.81 a plate.
The report also states that Texas had the second-cheapest average cost of sandwiches as well, coming in at $9.36.
