Making an iconic music video is no easy task, as often artists go the extra mile to make sure it turns out exactly how they envisioned. While fans appreciate the output, sometimes the experience ends up being a bad memory for the musician. That seems to be the case for Destiny’s Child member Michelle Williams, who recently revealed the ‘Survivor’ music video left the group “sick for days.”
As many Destiny’s Child fans know; the ‘Survivor’ video features a clip of the three members dancing on the beach in skimpy outfits. While it looked great in the video, the day of the shoot wasn’t exactly beach weather, according to Williams. “We were sick for days after that…It looks hot out there [in the video] but it was freezing. [There was] no fabric. Miss Tina [Beyoncé‘s mom] kept cutting… [I was like]: ‘Where’s the fabric to cut?’ We survived that video,” said Williams.
Luckily for Destiny’s Child, their struggle paid off as the song reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and helped the group win a Grammy, according to NME. Still, for Williams it wasn’t enjoyable as the three “basically had pneumonia” afterwards. Hopefully their other video shoots were more enjoyable.
