This event has been a long time coming for Robert Hennis, his son Joel, Rev. John Benandini Jr., and Tommy Strawn, a group of fishermen from Texas.
For 20 years, the men have been chasing their white whale, a massive 13-foot alligator that's been spotted around the Southeast Texas bayou. And finally, after two decades, they've captured it.
According to the Bluebonnet News, the men finally pulled the 680-pound reptile from the waters of Turtle Bayou, located near Anahuac in Chambers County, Texas.
Alligator hunting season in Southeast Texas runs from Sept. 10-30 every year. The men were able to capture the gator just two days before the season ended.
Joel Hennis said, "We have been trying to get this gator for 20 years. Every year, a week before the season, we will see him, and then we won't see him again until after the season is over. This time he bit the wrong hook."
