We’ve all made little mistakes on the job where we know we’re better than that, right? A careless mistake from just not checking all the boxes, making sure all the ducks are in a row.
Well, that happened at the Texas State Capitol recently, and it’s almost unbelievable that it happened.
On Monday night, the Texas flag outside of the capitol building was hung, and briefly flown, upside town. Viewers of KXAN noticed the mistake during the channel’s broadcast of the 10 p.m. news.
According to Chapter 3100 of the Texas Government Code, “the white stripe should be at the top of the flag, except as a signal of dire distress in an instance of extreme danger to life or property.”
Maybe the distress was Texas losing at the last second to Oklahoma, but we don’t know for sure.
Chris Currens, director of special projects for the State Preservation Board, said the night staff “quickly corrected the matter” after they were alerted to the incorrect display.
