You wouldn't think this at first, especially since most us were born and raised here, but apparently a lot of other states have a hard time pronouncing the word "Texas."
A new study from Preply found that people in six other states search for "Texas pronunciation" more than any other state name pronunciation.
Residents of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and New Mexico were found to be the most likely to be confused over the pronunciation.
Preply cited that the regional accents across the state may lead to confusion over its pronunciation.
CW 33 mention least six core regional accents in Texas, each with a unique way of pronouncing the state's name, like 'Tey-ex-us' in the Panhandle and 'Tex-is' in South Texas.
Aside from the from the official pronunciation 'Tek-suhs,' Preply identified five different popular ways to say 'Texas' within the state.
