32-year-old Texas man Jaythan Glider attempted to rob a Tiffany's store in Orlando of $1.3 million worth of diamond jewelry.
He told the store employees he was there on behalf of an NBA player for the Orlando Magic. He was escorted to the back room when after the luxurious items were brought for his viewing, he jumped out of his seat, grabbed the expensive jewelry, and bolted for the door.
According to CBS News, Glider fought with several employees before making his way out of the store, where he hopped in his rented SUV and tried to hightail it back to Texas.
Unfortunately for him, police were able to correctly identify the vehicle, and Glider was pulled over about six hours after the robbery.
Glider was still full of tricks though. While he was being taken into custody, he reportedly "swallowed several items," which a subsequent scan revealed to be two sets of diamond earrings, worth $609,500 and $160,000, respectively.
Glider allegedly asked officers, "Am I going to be charged with what's in my stomach?"
Obviously.
Glider is facing charges of grand theft in the first degree, and robbery with a mask. He is also being held on 48 separate "failure to appear" warrants out of the state of Colorado.
