We’re nearing the end of the school year, and apparently there are a lot of students in Texas who aren’t that concerned with studying for finals.

Teachers in North Texas have been warned about a viral trend on TikTok that is teaching students to ignite their school-issued laptops.

Kyle Berger, chief technology officer with Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, told NBC DFW, “What it’s come down to is, students being able to show ways that they would actually catch their devices on fire.”

GCISD has seen multiple attempts of students trying to ignite their laptops, after watching clips of the act on TikTok (which of course have millions of views.”

The district has also asked parents to discuss the repercussions of this behavior with their kids.

“Be aware of what’s happening online, and really use some good judgment on what you’re doing and what you’re seeing and others try to get you to do,” Berger said.
