When disaster strikes, there are few better places to be than the Lone Star State.

In fact, according to a new study from Mighty Probe and T&T Tools, there is only one better state as Texas ranked as the second most prepared state in the nation for a disaster.

Massachusetts placed first in the study, with California, North Dakota, and New York placing ranking behind Texas to round out the top five.

According to CW33, Mighty Probe ranked all 50 states based on four specific indicators, including disaster mitigation projects from 2024, disaster recovery spending between 2019 and 2024, pre-disaster mitigation grants from 2023 and the number of emergency workers per 100,000 residents. E

Each category was normalized to a 10-point scale.  Texas received an overall preparedness score of 5.77 out of 10.
