A lot of changes have come to Southwest Airlines over the last few months. Bags no longer fly free. Open seating is no more.

But this recent change has fliers a little bit worried, not over the comfortability of their flight, but for their health.

A new post from View from the Wing alleges that Southwest is testing out a new policy where only their premium seats are cleaned in between flights.

Chris Click, a board member of the Airline flight attendants union shared a video saying how he received a Southwest Airlines memo about the new policy and likened it to the movie Titanic.

He said, “This is class service. This is first class seating. And now that you’re bringing cleaners on board to provide a different cleaning product up front than you are in the back, this is definitely class service. ..it’s an insult to the passengers that aren’t in ELR seats that they’re left with just what we can tidy. And look, there’s a big difference between tidying the airplane and cleaning.”

Southwest clarified what their cleaning policy actually is, and that flight attendants will continue to tidy the entire cabin in between flights. The airline said in a statement, “That will continue, and in addition, we are looking at potentially bringing in additional cleaners when needed, at certain airports.

“We will continue to make sure our aircraft are ready for every customer, regardless of where their seats are on the plane.”
