All fishermen know it's all about waiting for that big catch.
A Houston woman's recent big catch may have just made history.
Emilie Song was recently fishing in Harris County when she reeled in a MASSIVE alligator gar. Pictures show the gar exceeded Song's size, measuring in at 8 feet and 4 inches long, with a 50-inch girth.
Local guide Paul Myers told Chron.com, "It's the third largest I've put a guest on. I keep in contact with most guides, and I asked. Nobody knows of a female angler catching an 8-footer before."
Song tied the state record for the gar's length, which was caught by Marty McClennan in the Trinity River back in 2001.
Myers doesn't weigh the fishes he catches like Song's, for fear of potentially harming them. Song's gar was tagged, was last caught about two and a half years ago when it measured only 8 feet and 1 inch with a 43-inch girth.
