Last year, many in DFW quickly became obsessed with a pair of bald eagles after they set up a nest at White Rock Lake. The eagles made news for weeks until their nest fell and they disappeared. Now, with temperatures starting to cool, the bald eagles have returned and experts believe this time they could be here to stay.
Over the last few weeks, several Lake Highlands neighborhood residents have claimed to have spotted the beloved bald eagles back at White Rock Lake. It had been several months since anyone had seen the birds in the area, according to NBC DFW. However, with their return the urban biologist for the city of Dallas, Brett Johnson, claims there is “little doubt” the eagles will make the lake their permanent home.

Now, people all over the metroplex are rooting for the birds to build another nest, have offspring and stay in the area. Of course, weather could have an impact as it did during their first stay last year. Clearly, as long as the eagles aren’t from Philadelphia, DFW is happy to see them stay.
