We know a lot of Texans are excited for the arrival of the total solar eclipse.  Budget motels are charging visitors $1,000 for a room along the path of totality.  Heck, the Dallas Zoo is hosting an event where you can OBSERVE animals reacting to the phenomenon.

Not everyone, or everything is primed and ready for the eclipse, however.  Enter our old friend/nemesis, the Texas power grid.

According to WFAA, the Texas power grid will definitely be impacted by the solar eclipse.  The shadow moving across the state is expected to affect solar power production in the region between 12:10 p.m. and 3:10 p.m.

However, officials aren't worried about too concerned about residents losing power.

Forecasts published by ERCOT suggest that solar generation on April 8 could "drop from 99.2% around noon to about 7.6% by about 1:40 p.m."

ERCOT said in a statement, "ERCOT is working on forecasting models to reflect solar generation on the grid during the eclipse. ERCOT does not expect any grid reliability concerns during the eclipse.

"ERCOT will use all available tools to maintain grid reliability and will continue to monitor conditions."
