While The Colony, Anna, and McKinney have been shown love previously for the massive influx of new residents they’ve received over the past few years, Lewisville was named the No. 5 newest “boomtown” in the country.

The personal finance website SmartAsset analyzed more than 400 U.S. cities with populations of 65,000 or more to “identify places experiencing rapid growth based on five-year changes in economic output, housing units, and labor force size.”

According to CultureMap Dallas, Texas is home to 18 of the 75 boomtowns listed, the second highest concentration of boomtowns in a single state. Texas was only bested by Florida, who had 19 boomtowns.

McKinney and Frisco ranked No. 8 and No. 10, respectfully.

The report says, “In recent years, some American cities stand out for attracting people, investment and development at a pace that sets them apart.

"Boomtown status does not mean growth benefits everyone equally, but it does reflect a city’s expanding economic capacity and the new opportunities that come with it.”

The top ten newest boomtowns in the country include:

1 – Georgetown, TX
2- New Braunfels, TX
3- Lehi, UT
4 – Leander, TX
5 – Lewisville, TX
6 – Palm Coast, FL
7 – Nampa, ID
8 – McKinney, TX
9 – Conroe, TX
10 – Frisco, TX
