It’s every kid’s (and parent’s) worst nightmare.

The Webb family of Fort Worth was taking off for a vacation to the Virgin Islands when they realized they left behind a very important piece of cargo.

4-year-old Patrick Webb’s beloved teddy bear was not with him on the plane.

Patrick’s dad, Joe Webb told NBC DFW, “We got in our seats and realized that we had left Bobby behind, and we made an attempt to try to get him back before the flight took off, but it was tight. And then we just kind of didn’t know what to do.”

Unable to leave the plane, the family reported the lost teddy bear to American Airlines. Staff members found him in the Admirals Club lounge and assured the Webb family Bobby would be well taken care of until they returned home.

Over the next week, American Airlines sent the Webb family picture updates of Bobby’s adventures, including his time touring parts of the airport, including the airline’s hub control center, spending time on the ramp, helping with baggage operations and even greeting customers in the lounge.

When the Webb family returned home, American Airlines staff members were waiting at the gate with Bobby in hand.

Patrick’s mother Hollis said, “Just so thankful, I didn't think someone would throw him away. But to have y'all treat him as lovingly as you did, which is just amazing.”

The airline also surprised Patrick and his twin brother William with gift bags of coloring books, commemorative items and a special keepsake for Bobby: a “passport” documenting his weeklong adventure at the airport.
