Melissa had intended to become a novelist but was seduced by the lure of radio during her college years.
After graduating from Brown University in 1992 with a degree in English and American literature, Melissa worked as a radio disc jockey, news anchor, and traffic reporter in Boston and Providence, Rhode Island. She joined the KCBS news team as a production assistant just three weeks after moving to the Bay Area in late 1996. A few short months later, Melissa left KCBS to work on the air for sister station KLLC (Alice@ 97.3) and later KIOI (Star 101.3). She returned to KCBS Radio in August, 2004, as a fill-in anchor and became a full-time reporter and anchor just under a year later.
Melissa sings in her spare time and occasionally can be found performing in small San Francisco clubs. She also loves running, yoga, good books, Giants’ games, Hawaii, pretty dresses, and big sunglasses.
