"Making and possessing explosive devices is not safe," police said in a statement posted to social media. "It puts the fabricator and the entire community at risk."

This is the second incident that has occurred at a Contra Costa County gas station in recent weeks. Last Tuesday, Pleasant Hill police arrested a suspect for allegedly setting off illegal fireworks at an ARCO gas station.

The fireworks explosion caused moderate damage to a vehicle. The suspect was booked into jail on suspicion of multiple offenses, police said. Their identity has not yet been released.
