As storms continue to hit the state, the National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for San Francisco that will last until 3:30 p.m.

The National Weather Service noted that the conditions caused by the storm have made it a "dangerous and life-threatening situation."

"Do not attempt to travel unless you are fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order," an alert from the NWS said.

NWS forecaster Jeff Lorber shared with KCBS Radio's Holly Quan that the city having a flash flood warning is definitely "not typical."

"Based on what we are seeing over the ocean and what's going to fall as it approaches the city, there could definitely be some flooding around poor drainage areas, and it'll take a while for that water to drain down into the sewers," Lorber said.

As the storm progresses over the city and throughout the area, Lorber said the NWS will continue to monitor it to see the impact it will have.
