The fund – launched by the San Jose Police Officers' Association – benefits the kids, who range in age from 1-10. "These children need your help," San Jose police tweeted in sharing a link to the Victims Assistance Program.
The two people killed were identified by relatives as Marco Carral, 23, and Erica Chanon Pantoja, 29, as reported by KTVU. Carral was working as a security guard last Sunday when he tried to intervene in a couple's apartment parking lot fight in the 300 block of Crescent Village Circle near River Oaks Park. The suspect first killed Carral before shooting Pantoja.
He then turned the gun on himself.

The couple's children were at the apartment complex when the shooting occurred. Authorities said it wasn't clear whether the children were inside or outside of it at the time of the shootings.
They are now in their maternal grandmother's care.
A GoFundMe campaign has also been established to help Carral's family pay for funeral expenses.
"There's no way to describe how much light Marco brought to many souls, he was a caring son, a loyal friend, but more than anything, he was the best role model for me and my brothers," Carral's sister, Fernanda Duran, wrote on the GoFundMe page. "His smile and laughter filled voids for many."

Carral and Pantoja were San Jose's 15th and 16th homicide victims this year.
The suspect has been identified as Salvador Pantoja, 33, according to reporting by The Mercury News. His death was ruled a suicide.
