Napa wineries are experiencing massive demand spikes as California continues to fully return to its pre-pandemic ways, according to a report in the San Francisco Chronicle.

Interest in luxury wine experiences has risen across Napa Valley with both pandemic restrictions loosening and weather heating up.

"June is typically not a big month for wine hospitality here, especially for high-end reds," Tim Martin, owner of Tusk Estates and Immortal Estate, told the paper. "But requests are off the charts. I have not seen traffic like this for years."

Some wine tours alone are reported to cost more than $500 while other vacation amenities such as limo rides, and flights to vintage airports can cause some getaways and excursions to price out at more than $10,000.

Wineries have added premium options for tourist to buy, such as $750 Baccarat crystal glasses engraved with your name at Theorem Vineyards in Calistoga or a premium wine tasting experience for $950 at Tor Wines in St. Helena.

Angela Duerr, owner of the concierge service A Cultured Vine, told the paper she recently booked an experience that totaled about $80,000.

The tourism increase comes after what was an especially difficult year for Northern California wine country due to the combination of the COVID-19 pandemic and fires that ravaged the region during the fall.
