Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office deputies served a search warrant at the home of former Windsor Mayor Dominic Foppoli Wednesday morning in connection to the ongoing sexual assault investigation against him.
Detectives started their search of the residence around 8 a.m., looking for evidence for about two hours, according to Sgt. Juan Valencia.
Although Valencia could not comment on what was being searched for or how much evidence was found, he did say that some items were taken by authorities.
Foppoli resigned in May after several allegations of sexual assault came out in April from several accusers, nine in total, in an investigation by the San Francisco Chronicle.
The accusations go back as far as 2002 through this past March, and include accounts of rape, groping, and other crimes, according to the paper.
Foppoli initially refused to step down, but eventually did in the weeks following the publication of the Chronicle’s investigation after a Florida woman came forward. He was then replaced in June by Vice Mayor Sam Salmon.
Foppoli is facing multiple criminal investigations and two state investigations, as reported by the paper.
