It turns out you might not have to wait until March to get a taste of the popular Triple IPA because of the postponement. Russian River Brewing Co-Owner Natalie Cilurzo told KCBS Radio this year's first batch will actually go to the bars and restaurants that would typically have to wait.

"There will be a lot of places throughout California, Oregon, Colorado and Philadelphia that will have Pliny the Younger on tap before we release it at our pubs, which is the first time in history that's ever happened," she said.

Cilurzo explained the county actually had given the green light for a February Pliny release, saying they didn't actually consider the gathering an event but she said the timing didn't feel right with the county's voluntary stay-at-home order in effect.

"That, in my opinion, would be defying the health order by inviting a bunch of people to come out to (get) Pliny the Younger and stand in line with people from who knows where," Cilurzo said.

Could the March release become a new tradition? You never know.

"Maybe the weather will be better," she laughed.

The 2021 release was forced to go virtual because of the coronavirus pandemic, selling out in mere minutes.

This year's release has been rescheduled for March 25 to Apr. 7 at both the Santa Rosa and Windsor locations.
