The weather was cause for celebration Sunday morning as participants in the Golden Gate Half Marathon and 5k were met with perfect running conditions.
Sunny skies and cool temperatures greeted runners as they made the journey from San Francisco's Aquatic Park to the Marin County side of the Golden Gate Bridge and back.

All along the route runners and walkers were cheered on by bystanders. Participants in the annual half marathon flocked to San Francisco from all across the Bay Area and the wider Northern California.
"It's great. After the pandemic, it is definitely a refreshing thing," one runner told KCBS Radio mid-jog.
The Golden Gate Half Marathon was held last fall, but the number of runners were drastically less than the turnout Sunday morning due to COVID-19 concerns.
This year, even with coronavirus still present, many said it felt like freedom again.
"It was really fun actually," a woman from Vallejo who walked the route said. "It was good. I liked the weather. I thought it was going to be cold, but it was nice." When asked if it was difficult she laughed and responded, "no."
