The U.S. Marshals are searching for a 34-year-old Texas woman accused of killing a professional cyclist in what police are investigating as an apparent love triangle murder.

Kaitlin Marie Armstrong is currently being sought by the Lonestar Fugitive Task Force for first-degree murder in the death of 25-year-old Anna Wilson.

Police found Wilson, a Vermont native who lived in San Francisco, unresponsive and bleeding on May 11 at a home in East Austin where she had been staying ahead of a race. She was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene.

Wilson dated Armstrong's longtime boyfriend, cyclist and Red Bull athlete Colin Strickland, during a brief break in their relationship last fall, according to KTRK-TV.

Investigators believe that a jealous Armstrong found out Wilson was in town, tracked her down and killed her, KNTV reported.

The night of the murder, Wilson spent time with Strickland swimming at a public pool, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by the Austin American-Statesman. When they were finished, Strickland dropped Wilson off at the house and moments later, she was shot to death.

Surveillance video allegedly shows a vehicle matching one driven by Armstrong outside of the home where Wilson was killed just moments after she returned from swimming, the Statesman reported.

Investigators questioned Armstrong and shortly after, she disappeared. A warrant for her arrest was issued May 17.

Strickland said he is cooperating with the investigation.

"There is no way to adequately express the regret and torture I feel about my proximity to this horrible crime," Strickland said in a statement that was shared to Twitter by Statesman reporter Tony Plohetski.

Strickland added that his relationship with Wilson was "platonic and professional."

"I am sorry, and I simply cannot make sense of this unfathomable situation," he said.

Anyone with information on Armstrong's whereabouts is urged to contact authorities.
