
(Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - According to a new study, seven areas around Pittsburgh are among the safest in Pennsylvania.
The list released by Backgroundchecks.org lists Munhall as the safest city in the commonwealth, with Whitehall coming in at number 4.
The study looked at FBI crime data and law enforcement employee numbers in towns with at population over 10,000 to come up with a “Safety Index”.
Other areas that rank in the top 20 are Cecil Township at 6, Upper St. Clair at 9, Jefferson Hills at 10, West Mifflin at 14 and Mount Lebanon at 19.
Overall Pennsylvania has the 21 lowest in the nation for violent crime and is 8th lowest for property crime.
