HARRISBURG (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The COVID-19 coronavirus has been dominating the headlines the past few weeks but the flu is still around.
Nine more flu-related deaths were reported in the state in the past week, with a total of 83 fatalities for the season.
Through March 7 there were over 115,000 laboratory-confirmed influenza cases in Pennsylvania, up 9% from the week before.
About 12,500 of those cases reported in Allegheny County, by far the most in the commonwealth.
Officials say the best way to fight the flu is to get a flu shot as well as washing your hands thoroughly.
