PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The Allegheny Health department is offering free measles vaccinations on Wednesday to help curb the outbreak in the Pittsburgh area.
The group includes those 12 months up to those 61 years old who have not been vaccinated.
"Those NOT eligible for the vaccine include children under the age of 12 months of age, those born before 1957 (who have a natural immunity), anyone who has had measles, pregnant women, or those who are otherwise immunocompromised," the Health Department said.
The vaccination clinic will be held May 8 between 12 p.m. -4 p.m. at the Homewood-Brushton YMCA located at 7140 Bennett Street.
It will be first come, first serve for those wanting to get the MMR vaccine.
The first case of measles in Allegheny County was reported last week and after that four more were reported.
If you are unsure if you are not vaccinated or not, the Health Department says there "is no risk in getting an additional dose of the MMR vaccine for individuals who may have already received it."
