HARRISBURG (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) – Allegheny County is confirming three new COVID-19 deaths and seven new cases on Wednesday.

The total number of cases in Allegheny County have reached 2,034 after passing the 2,000 mark on Sunday.


172 people have now died as a result of coronavirus.

All deaths are in people ranging in age from 42-103 with 84 being the median age of those who have died.

One additional hospitalization is being reported bring the total past and present to 352

While the county has not released numbers regarding a recovery rate, the state of Pennsylvania is reporting that 70% of cases have recovered.

Individuals who have recovered is determined using a calculation, similar to what is being done by several other states. If a case has not been reported as a death, and it is more than 30 days past the date of their first positive test (or onset of symptoms) then an individual is considered recovered.

In Pennsylvania, a total of 74,298 confirmed cases of COVID-19 are being confirmed with 2,138 probable. 6,014 people in PA have died from coronavirus.

459,248 people across the commonwealth have tested negative.
