An Uncommon January Heat Comes To Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) January is traditionally one of the coldest months of the year for the region; but the past few days have been oddly warm for Pittsburgh.

Instead of snow, Pittsburgh is expected to get hit with moderate to heavy rainfall.

Friday, Jan. 10, the temperature reached a high of 63°.

Saturday Jan. 11, the high temperature is predicted to reach 70°.

The highest temperature for the month of January since 2002, when the heat reached 72°.

The highest temperature to ever be recorded in Pittsburgh for the month of January is 75° in 1950.

The temperature has been slowly rising the past couple of days since a severe weather warning of a snow squall was reported on Wednesday.

Snow has fallen multiple times since the start of December, but nothing has been able to stick around with the fluctuating temperatures.

The temperature is predicted to drop back to a normal cold in the coming weeks.

Falling to a low of 28° for Jan. 18.
