BEAVER, Pa. (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - In Beaver County today the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services says the result of a federal probe will be released soon into more than 70 COVID-19 deaths at Brighton Rehabilitation and Wellness Center.
Alex Azar says his department took the unusual step of sending federal investigators into Brighton for several days earlier this month.
“We look for the basics, infection control, are you following appropriate infection control are you following appropriate infection control? There’s not an excuse for infections spreading like wildfire throughout a nursing home,” said Azar.
Azar says governors and state health officials have to do a better job of regulating long-term care homes where so many COVID-19 patients have died.
Azar also toured the nearby Heritage Valley Hospital.
