PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A month-long blood drive in honor of fallen Pittsburgh Police Officer Calvin Hall will help nearly 850 people.
Pittsburgh Police announced Tuesday the Vitalant blood drive collected 281 units of blood.
Each unit will be able to save up to 3 lives, equaling a total of 843 possible lives saved.
Police chief Scott Schubert said when he donated, “That’s how Calvin lived and that’s how we wanted to live and we want to do it in his legacy to help save other lives.”
Officer Hall’s motto was “Gotta go. Time for me to make a difference.”
Officer Hall was fatally shot three times in the back in July while trying to break up an argument while he was off duty.
