BUTLER, Pa. (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A highly-contagious virus has closed the Butler County Humane Society.
One of the dogs housed at the shelter tested positive for Parvovirus.
The virus comes in two forms. One causes vomiting, diarrhea and issues with appetite. The other attacks the dog's heart and is usually found in young puppies.
The Butler County Humane Society will be closed until April 5 at the earliest. They will not accept animals or adopt any out until then.
