PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The City of Pittsburgh has extending the curfew that was implemented following Saturday’s violence downtown.
PA State Police, Allegheny County Police and other law enforcement will help enforce the curfew.
The order so far has been effective in preventing further violence.
In addition, the National Guard says more than 600 members have been placed on active duty as part of the state of emergency declared over the weekend by Governor Tom Wolf.
The order allows state Emergency Management officials to direct operations in Allegheny, Dauphin and Philadelphia Counties.
Injuries were reported on Saturday along with property damage, looting and two police cars were burning after a largely peaceful protest.
Sunday was much quitter in Pittsburgh with a small group gathering to protest the death of George Floyd, who was killed while in police custody in Minneapolis last week.
