PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Need a few laughs this weekend?
Pittsburgh Comedian JC Coccoli will be performing the Burning Bridges Comedy Club in Lawrenceville Saturday night at 8:00 p.m., and Sunday night at 10:00 p.m.
She is a Pittsburgh native and a graduate of Montour High School in Robinson.
"The intricacies of the city are so funny organically, I tie it in to the issues that go on in the world," said Coccoli, during an interview with KDKA Radio on Friday.
Coccoli uses her own experiences growing up in Pittsburgh for her comedy inspiration, everything from growing up Italian in McKees Rocks to tragically losing her sister to the opioid crisis three years ago.
But what's so funny about the opioid crisis?
"There's nothing funny about it, my sister passed away from it three years ago from it," said Coccoli. "She was 34 . . . died from it and I have since really felt like if I don't find a way to talk about this it will continue to take over the world . . . how do make that funny? Well we talk about grief, grief is funny we just have to find ways to make it funny."
She previously worked at MTV and Comedy Central, among other entertainment companies.
Coccoli was also joined in studio with her opera singing cousin Danielle Pastin!
