Coronavirus

HARRISBURG Pa. (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - There are 1,706 additional cases of coronavirus (461 more than Thursday) in Pennsylvania Friday to bring the state's total to 29,441 in all 67 counties.

Along with the new cases, there are 49 new deaths, 11 less than Wednesday, bringing the state's death total to 756.


117,932 people have tested negative for COVID-19 to date

Of the patients who have tested positive to date the age breakdown is as follows:

  • Nearly 1% are aged 0-4;
  • Nearly 1% are aged 5-12;
  • 1% are aged 13-18;
  • 6% are aged 19-24; 
  • Nearly 40% are aged 25-49; 
  • Nearly 29% are aged 50-64; and
  • 23% are aged 65 or older.

Most of the hospitalizations and deaths are in those 65 and older.

There have been no pediatric deaths.

Nursing homes are being hit especially hard.

There are 3,716 cases of coronavirus in nursing and personal care home residents.

420 cases are among employees for a total of 4,136 cases at 321 facilities in 35 counties.

398 of the state's 756 deaths have occurred in nursing homes.
