PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The counting of paper ballots is resuming on Wednesday inside a warehouse in the Northside.

The counting of the ballots took longer than hoped for.

The vote count ended at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. Before counting resumed 263,043 ballots had been scanned and are now being reported on the election results website.

Ballots that hadn’t been counted were locked in the warehouse overnight under County Police guard.

The secured room was unlocked at 12:09 p.m. Wednesday and witnessed by poll watchers and elections staff.

Tens of thousands of in person paper ballots had also been counted but many more remain.

The results will determine some very close state house races.

A statewide race for Auditor General between Pittsburgh’s Michael Lamb and Philadelphia’s Nina Ahmad has yet to be determined with the state reporting most votes still to be counted from Delaware County outside of Philadelphia.
