Capo’s bar on the South Side has been shut down, pending a hearing next month, after a stabbing over the weekend.

Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen Zappala’s office filed a Preliminary Injunction Pending a Rule to Show Cause hearing that was issued on Monday afternoon.

The bar is to remain closed, pending the hearing, set for December 7, 2026.

“These legal steps were taken because of the violation of the prior Consent Agreement and were independent of any outside campaign,” Zappala’s office said in a statement. “While we are always happy to collaborate with local groups, we must conduct an independent investigation gathering the facts and follow the legal process.”

One person was left in critical condition after an altercation and stabbing overnight on Friday into Saturday.

Capo’s was at risk of shutting down over the summer before agreeing to new restrictions put in place by Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen Zappala’s office.

Under the agreement, Capo’s was to close by 1:30 a.m., shut down its outside line at 1 a.m., and limit customers to one drink at last call.

The bar also had to remove its stripper pole, ban dancing on tables and chairs, and stop selling “fishbowls with excessive alcohol Employees will be retrained on overserving, intoxication and drug use.

The agreement came after a series of incidents, including the alleged rape of a woman who police say was left outside the bar.

Several community organizations on the South Side released a statement over the weekend, calling for DA Zappala to act and close the bar.

With courts closed over the weekend, the DA’s office got in contact with Capo’s and the bar was closed on Saturday and Sunday.
