PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Cases of COVID-19 in Allegheny County are once again hoovering near 200.
On Friday, the Allegheny County Health Department is reporting 198 news case in the past 24 hours with 197 confirmed and one probable.
Those positive cases come from 2,255 test results ranging from July 6 through July 23.
Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald tells KDKA Radio, the positivity rate is around 8.7 percent, still under the 10 percent plateau.
Fitzgerald says while the number of cases is near, more tests are being administered and the positivity is holding steady.
He says health director Dr. Debra Bogen still believes the numbers are stabilizing.
The ages of those cases range from 2 months to 97 years old with the median age being 42.
The age groups and gender of the 198 newly-reported cases follow:
00-04 – 205-12 – 513-18 – 1819-24 – 1525-49 – 8050-64 – 4765 + -- 31
Female – 108Male – 90
Since March 14, there have been 7,015 total cases of COVID-19 reported.
A record in daily hospitalizations is also being reported with 22 new cases. 573 people have now been hospitalized, past or present, since the beginning of the pandemic.
The county is also reporting two additional deaths, bringing that total to 221.
The latest reported deaths are in a 54-year-old and an 89-year-old occurring on July 11 and 22 respectively.
