PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) – The Allegheny County Health Department is reporting 139 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, 33 less than on Monday. 6,574 total have now been infected in Allegheny County.

The positive cases are out of 1,501 test results that span June 29 through July 20.

The numbers show that a large number the of positive cases are from earlier this month when numbers spiked due to restaurants and bars being open for dine-in services.

The number of cases confirmed over that time:

Of the total deaths 197 are confirmed and 12 are considered probably. Ages of those who have died range in age 23 to 103 with the median age being 84.

Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald says the positivity rate is around 9 percent and while he would like to see it under 5 percent, he is happy that the number is no longer over 10 percent like it was in the past few weeks.

While cases continue to go down, Fitzgerald says there is concern when schools reopen, the area could once again see an increase in cases with children spending a full day in classrooms and then going home to parents and grandparents.

The Allegheny County Health Department has a dashboard on its website where you can see how many people in your community have been infected.
