PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Republicans and Democrats will find some common ground, but also major differences in police reform proposals working their way through Harrisburg and Washington.
Plans for a data base of police officers personnel fires are in every plan, including the executive order signed by President Donald Trump on Tuesday.
Pittsburgh area Congressman Guy Reschenthaler was among those who met with the president.
"You also had the banning of choke holds unless it's a life or death situation where deadly force is being used against a police officer," said Reschenthaler.
In addition social workers could be taken on some calls.
"So when eh police go to deal with somebody that has mental health issues or substance abuse they'll take a social worker with them," said Reschenthaler.
But some Police chiefs question taking a civilian on a police call that could turn violent.
Democrats say the President's order, which is voluntary, doesn't go far enough.
Among other proposals they want to make it easier to sue officers in criminal and civil court.
