PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) — The moments leading up to Pittsburgh Police Officer Calvin Hall's death have been made public.

The Allegheny County District Attorney unsealed the criminal complaint today, announcing his office will seek the death penalty against 30-year-old Christian Bey.

He is charged with criminal homicide and three weapons violations in the shooting the off-duty officer after Hall returned to resolve a conflict at a Homewood block party on July 14th.

Unidentified witnesses describe Bey firing at Hall while he stood huddled in a group that included the suspect's mother. Hall died three days later.

Despite being off duty at the time, the D.A. cites Hall's position as an officer in its notice seeking the death penalty.

Witnesses in the affidavit remain unidentified, though they are known to investigators, to protect them and the investigation. This was the same reason the office cited for keeping the complaint sealed during a grand jury’s review of the case.
