Duquesne Incline Closed To Treat For Bed Bugs

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - After reports of a bed bugs, the Duquesne Incline will be closed until 5:30 a.m. on Friday to treat the suspected infestation.

Port Authority, speaking on behalf of the non-profit Society for the Preservation of the Duquesne Heights Incline, made the announcement Wednesday afternoon.

Shuttle buses will run from the upper station on Grandview Avenue to the lower station on West Carson Street until the incline reopens.

The society runs the 142-year-old incline but it is operated by Port Authority.

On behalf of The Society for the Preservation of the Duquesne Heights Incline: The @DuquesneIncline will close at 3 p.m. today to treat for the presence of bed bugs. It will reopen at 5:30 a.m. on Friday.

A woman told the Tribune Review that she received over 100 bed bug bites after a ride on the incline.

The Monongahela Incline was also inspected for bed bugs but Port Authority says none were discovered.
