PITTSBRUGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) In early Oct. of 2018, Marquis "J.B." Brown a football player at Duquesne University fell to his death from a 16th floor window.
An initial investigation by the university determined that Brown jumped from the window after campus police were called on Brown for possibly fighting with his roommate.
Officers determined that there was no altercation, but after their arrival there were multiple claims that Brown used a chair to break a window and jump from it.
Later drug tests showed that there was marijuana in Brown's system.
Almost two years later, Brown's mother, Dannielle, believes that there is more to the story still to be figured out.
In early July she left her home in Washington D.C. to come to Pittsburgh's Hill District to begin a hungry strike hoping to get the university's attention and look further into the case of her son's death.
Earlier this August, the university again insisted that there was no police misconduct or negligence.
The university has been unable to determine if there was anything else besides marijuana in J.B.'s system.
After 49 days of her Dannielle's hunger strike, and multiple calls and emails, Duquesne University on Friday stated that they are ready to comply with her demands and will further look into the incident.
The university also stated that they are awaiting paperwork from Dannielle's lawyers before any public safety files can be released and that nothing is stopping an independent investigation.
According to Duquesne University, Dannielle has demanded a multi-million dollar settlement, but they instead offered to donate $100,000 to a foundation created in J.B.'s honor.
