End Of Watch Ceremony Held For Officer Calvin Hall

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - An emotional End of Watch ceremony took place Saturday night for fallen Pittsburgh Police Officer Calvin Hall.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, at least 200 police officers, family members, residents, and politicians paid tribute to Officer Calvin Hall.


The ceremony began at 8 p.m., when Officer Hall's Zone 1 shift would have ended. The 9-1-1 dispatcher issued a call to the officer, ""All units city wide please stand by. Base to Unit 31H1, Base to Unit 31H1, Officer Calvin Hall. Pittsburgh Bureau of Police. Badge number 4673."

Followed by silence, Police Chief Scott Schubert then said: "Official 3 to base. Unit 31H1, Officer Calvin Hall, Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, badge number 4673, is out of service."

The dispatcher echoed Schubert's heartbreaking message: "Attention Unit 31H1, Officer Calvin Hall, Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, badge number 4673, is out of service. End of Watch, July 17, 2019. Lest we forget. This concludes the final roll call…"

Six rows of police officer then gave one final salute.

Officer Hall was shot three time in the back on Sunday, July 14th, after trying to break up a fight.  

He was off-duty at the time.

Hall succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday after being in critical condition for three days.

Officer Hall was a Pittsburgh Police Officer for two years. Previously, he served on the Braddock Police force and Point Park University's Police.

The viewing for Officer Hall will be held on Monday at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall in Oakland from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. The family will not be present from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

On Tuesday the funeral and memorial service for Officer Hall will be held at Soldiers & Sailors at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Homewood Cemetery.
