PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A guilty plea to drug and other charges came Wednesday morning from the former police chief in Elizabeth Borough.
43-year-old Timothy Butler of Finleyville resigned last December after admitting to his police sergeant that he was addicted to heroin.
Police say the evidence was clear. Thousands of stamp bags from the Elizabeth Borough property room opened, empty or missing.
The criminal complaint says Butler told the sergeant the evidence was all gone.
In return for the guilty plea, The District A dropped charges related to the alleged theft of borough parking meter money.
Butler, who now works as a laborer, will remain free and will be sentenced in November.
