PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Giant Eagle Market District in Shady Side is extending its curbside pickup hours for frontline healthcare workers.

Timeslots for healthcare workers will be between 7-10 a.m. and 8-10 p.m. daily and will not affect the current 10 a.m. -7 p.m. schedule for the general public.

Healthcare providers will get a link they can provide their employees where they will be able to place grocery orders online for next-day pickup.

“We are extremely aware of and grateful for the sacrifices health care workers make every day in order to provide much needed care for our communities,” said Jannah Jablonowski, Giant Eagle Spokesperson. “Providing easy access to essential nourishment through our curbside pickup service is just one small way we can thank them for their efforts.”

Giant Eagle is also looking to expand hours at other locations

“Reserved curbside pickup slots at the Shadyside Market District are currently available to health care workers at AHN West Penn Hospital, UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, UPMC Magee-Women’s Hospital, UPMC Mercy, UPMC Montefiore, UPMC Presbyterian, UPMC Shadyside, and UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital.”

In addition, GetGo is offering a free cup of coffee or fountain drink to any healthcare worker who visits a location in uniform or shows a form of identification.
