
Google is helping Carnegie Mellon University predict when and where COVID-19 flare-ups will occur.
Google is contributing $1 million and will provide a team of 12 software engineers, designers and managers to CMU's Delphi Group.
That group was formed eight years ago to forecast epidemics, primarily influenza.
It started advising the CDC on coronavirus this summer.
The group works to track and forecast localized COVID outbreaks nationwide.
It also advises government leaders like the Pennsylvania Health Department and CDC.
